Old Block Shiraz
Old Block Shiraz is the result of meticulous selection of the very best grapes from our oldest Barossa vineyards, their ages varying from 70-100 years.
The individual vineyards that make up Old Block Shiraz are spread from the southern end of the Barossa which produce dense, highly coloured wines of great richness, to the high country of the Eden Valley where the wines are medium weight and more lifted in character.
At St Hallett we believe these heritage vineyards give Old Block Shiraz its consistent structure and style, and have afforded it the reputation as an Australian benchmark Shiraz.
Typically Old Block is a rich purple red in colour, full bodied, displaying flavours of dark chocolate and plum. It has a velvety texture, fine grained tannins and a long concentrated finish. With 28 months in oak and a year in bottle prior to release Old Block Shiraz is silky smooth on release however will reward careful cellaring for 15+ years.
