2017 Blockhead Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2017 vintage commenced about four weeks later than the previous five, and was coined by many as the ‘old normal’, with the first Shiraz ready on the 4th of March. Mild temperatures through February provided a steady ramp-up in crushing. The 2017 vintage was preceded by a favourable season in the Barossa that allowed all vineyards to produce both strong yields and high quality, and has delivered some absolute standout wines from pedigree vineyards.
The Shiraz fruit for Blockhead Shiraz Cabernet was sourced from family owned vineyards in the central and northern Barossa Valleys, while the Cabernet sauvignon hails from the red/brown loam of the Southern Barossa.
This classic Australian red blend combines the opulence and power of Shiraz with the texture and length of Cabernet. Full bodied, chewy and generous with fine tannins. The Blockhead range is characterised by its drinkability and its soft, lush and generous palate.
"This is a delicious blend of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry fruit, the tannin and oak injections adding complexity and texture. The balance and length are spot on."
