2018 Blockhead Shiraz
Good winter rains in July and August preceded a warm and dry spring with no frosts or storms. Budburst and shoot growth were strong with average bunch numbers showing across most varieties, followed by ideal weather through flowering which set-up good crop potential. Ripening was very steadily paced throughout which made for an accommodating vintage and the ability to pick everything exactly when we wanted it.
The fruit used to create Blockhead Shiraz was sourced primarily from select family owned vineyards on the black, biscay soils of Central Barossa and the red brown earth of the Northern Barossa Valley.
A round, rich palate loaded with juicy red and black berry fruit, balanced with soft velvet like tannins and enticing sweet oak. The Blockhead range is characterised by its drinkability and its soft, lush and generous palate.
