2018 Dry Rosé

2018 Dry Rosé

The palate opens with a burst of strawberries, dried flowers, and white peach. A lively backbone of acidity braces a palate that is dry, fresh and succulent. The finish is fine and elegant with lingering flavours of raspberry and strawberry.

The grapes for this Rosé are sourced exclusively from the Barossa Valley. The Barossa Valley is the ideal home for producing the fresh red fruit characters that make Grenache a standout variety for delicious Rosé.

The Barossa experienced a long wet winter with above average rainfall. Shoot growth was very slow due to cold wet soils but a mild spring and ample soil moisture allowed the vines to develop strong canopies. Temperatures through January and February were ideal with two well-timed bursts of rain to help maintain vine health. March was warm and dry providing ideal ripening conditions to the end. Due to the winter rain and cooler than average nights, 2018 vintage was four weeks later than the previous five. The cool nights and mild days provided ideal conditions for elegant Rosé.

The Grenache fruit was harvested cold and kept on skins for 12 hours before being drained off and then treated in a similar way to a white wine. The ferments were kept cool between 12-14 degrees for 10 days, maintaining the vibrant acid and fresh fruit characters. The wine received no oak contact prior to bottling.
