Planted 1919 (2015)
The growing season began with welcome early winter rainfall, followed by dry conditions later in winter and spring. Spring was warmer than average, resulting in early budburst and flowering. The summer days were mild without extended heat waves giving even ripening. 2015 Eden Valley Shiraz is considered outstanding with near perfect growing conditions leading to exceptional wine quality.
The vineyard has an elevation of 410 m with grey sandy loam over yellow clay and sandstone.
A bright and lifted bouquet with lovely floral notes, combined with hints of white pepper. Complexity develops further in the glass with dense blackberry and dried herbs.
A very elegant and balanced wine. Delightful palate weight, more medium than full bodied, with layers of dark fruits and dark chocolate, with lovely herbal notes of dried bay leaf and a flinty mid palate. The tannins are firm, silky and polished with a long and even finish.
